Weekly Update

Hello –

Thank you to all parents who came for conferences this week.  It was such a pleasure to talk to you about your children.

Here is what we will be working on next week.

Reading – we will be looking at how words and phrases help supply meaning to text.  This means we will look at the rhythm and rhyme of the text helps us to understand the meaning.

We will begin to work on informational writing by gathering information about a topic and taking key words and phrases and making them into sentences.

In math we are continuing to learn about measurement and how to compare measurements to gain information.

In Social Studies we are going to be learning about James Oglethorpe.

Have a great weekend.

Mrs. B.

Weekly Update 10/7

Hello Parents!

This week is the last week of the quarter and we will be doing some review of the standards from this quarter.  We are still focusing on identifying coins by name and value.  Then we will take this information and use it to solve word problems using coins.  In reading we are reviewing retelling the overall story by focusing on the beginning, middle and ending.

We had a great time doing our matter rotations this past Friday.  Thank you to all who donated supplies for this fun activity.

We will have early release this Thursday – students will leave at 12:20 and there will be no after school activities.

I am looking forward to meeting with all of you the week of 10/14 at conferences.

Mrs. Brantley
